Plan an interesting and exciting trip to someplace in the United States or another Country. Take time to research your plans. You probably have a destination in mind. Possibly a place you have always wanted to visit or some place that has been recommended by a friend. Guidelines to help you research your trip are given below.(Click on any CAPITALIZED item to visit that link) 1. You need a good travel guide for your destination. Use the TRAVEL BOOKS AND GUIDES link to find the travel guide of your choice. 2. Gather information about your destination using the COUNTRY AND CITY GUIDES link and the ONLINE TRAVEL GUIDES AND INFORMATION link. 3. A good travel map for your destination is indispensable. Use the TRAVEL MAPS link to find a map. 4. As you research your trip make a personal travel guide. See MAKING YOUR PERSONAL TRAVEL GUIDE link. 5. Check the MISCELLANEOUS TRAVEL INFORMATION and MORE USEFUL TRAVEL SITES links for destination ideas and additional travel information. 6. You may find useful information and ideas using YAHOO TRIP PLANNER, TRIPCONNECT.COM and IGOUGO TRAVEL SITE. To find information about your destination use GOOGLE, YAHOO or ASK search engines. If you have a specific destination in mind, search for it. For numerous possible sites put "destination guides" in a Google search. YAHOO SEARCH ASK SEARCH One problem with the use of a search engine is that you will get thousands and millions of possible resource links. Those links near the top of the list will normally be the most popular if not the most useful. Also be aware that sponsor sites listed near the top are paid advertisements. When searching for a specific topic you can limit your search somewhat. For example, when we use GOOGLE to find resources for London Attractions 16 million possibilities result. When we include quotes around the term "London Attractions" the search is limited to those sites with this exact phrase. Still the search results in over one million possibilities. To search for attractions and to eliminate those sites that are ads for hotels or hotel bookings use "London Attractions" -hotels. This search gives about 80 thousand possibilities. Even though a search gives you many possible sites, you will typically find useful information. Travel Alchemy has searched the internet and provides many useful sites that you can view using this travel website. 7. To book airline flights, hotels, car rentals or trains see the information given in AIRLINE RESERVATIONS, HOTEL, MOTEL AND APARTMENT RESERVATIONS, RENTAL CAR RESERVATIONS, and TRAIN, FERRY AND BUS INFORMATION on this travel website. To view examples of making hotel and airline reservations online see MORE ABOUT MAKING HOTEL AND AIRLINE RESERVATIONS. 8. If you are planning to visit one of the cities, regions or countries for which Travel Alchemy provides a specific guide, see the list of available guides at: TRAVELALCHEMY.COM |
Create your personal travel guide using one or both of the following methods. 1. Print selected pages from any links. Trim and compile these pages to use as a guide. Just before you leave on your trip e-mail yourself any important or useful information, such as hotel and car rental confirmations. You may also want to make scans of your passport, drivers license, airline tickets and other items. E-mail these scans to yourself. You can then open the e-mails on your trip as needed. To do this, of course, you will have to find an internet cafe or use a computer at your hotel. Download a calendar from the link below and fill it in with your itinerary. PRINTFREE.COM 2. Open a word processor file. Select, copy and paste any information from any of the links to the word processor file. Save the file and open it for use anytime you have a trip planning session at your computer. When you have finished, print the word processor file and take it on your trip.
